Early Care Education EQ Program
A Social-Emotional Development Program for Early Childhood Professionals
"Why emotional intelligence is important in early care education"

  • Emotional development begins in the earliest years, including prenatal (AAP)

  • During the first stage of psychosocial development (birth- 1yr), children develop a sense of trust when caregivers provide reliability, care, and affection.

  • Interactions with parents and teachers carry emotional messages.

  • Repetitive interactions send messages that form the child's emotional development and capabilities.

  • Teachers who are aware of their own EI will better support a child's emotional development.

  • Administrators who lead with emotional intelligence create a more productive environment
